5 Days Northern Tanzania Safari

You will be adventuring through the Northern Tanzania safari circuit and visit Tarangire National Park, Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Crater. This trip provides an opportunity to spot wildlife including the big five African mammals, wildebeest migration, and lots of fun under the African sun.

Elephant Herd

Day 1: Arrive at Kilimanjaro airport and transfer to Tarangire National Park

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro airport (preferably in the morning), you will be met by our Oree Safaris driver guide. You will then transfer to Tarangire National Park about a 3-hour drive.

Depending on the time of arrival at your lodge, you will be able to embark on an evening game drive. One of Tanzania’s largest parks, Tarangire is famous for its largest herds of elephants. It is named after River Tarangire which flows through its sparse vegetation including acacia and baobab trees.

Other wildlife you will have a chance to spot in addition to elephants include tree-climbing lions, buffalo, giraffes, zebra, wildebeest, and gazelle. Dinner and overnight stay at African Glamping Camp/ Lake Burenge tented.

Day 2: Transfer to Central Serengeti National Park

Today, after breakfast, you will have an early morning game drive, and travel north to Serengeti National Park via the Rift Valley, which you are expected to reach sometime early afternoon. You will access the park through the Naabi Hill entrance gate to the Seronera area the central part of Serengeti.

Set in the middle of the Savannah, your overnight lodge will offer comfortable accommodation and views of Tanzania’s largest Savannah plains landscape covering 14, 763 sq km. Serengeti National Park is a UNESCO heritage site home to the greatest wildlife spectacle on earth- the wildebeest migration.

More than 2 million wildebeest migrate along with zebra, and other antelopes from the Serengeti ecosystem to the Masa Mara wildlife reserve. This wilderness is also home to the big five African mammals which include Lion, Leopard, Rhino, Cape buffalo, and African elephant.

Also, there are more than 500 bird species. You may have dinner and an overnight stay at Serengeti Heritage Luxury Tented Camp or Kati Kati Tented Camp.

Day 3: Central Serengeti activity full day

On this day, you will wake up early before sunrise which is a great time to view wildlife in central Serengeti. Breakfast will be served early or packed to go and have a picnic in the wild.

With an expert guide, you will embark on full-day game drives with a good chance to see wildebeest migration usually between January to mid-March.

The big 5 African mammals are also present in big numbers including lion, leopard, elephant, and buffalo as well as a variety of other animals like cheetah, zebra, giraffe, spotted hyena, hippo, and a variety of bird species.

Return to the lodge to relax in the comfort of your lodge.

Day 4: Transfer to Ngorongoro Crater

You will continue your journey after breakfast, and transfer to Ngorongoro crater the largest un-flooded and unbroken caldera in the world with walls standing at 600 meters high. This natural wonder is home to one of the highest densities of wildlife in Africa about 30,000 animals including the big 5The crater is accessible for game drives with a highlight of all wildlife being the elusive black rhino.

You will arrive early afternoon at your overnight lodge overlooking the crater. Relax the rest of the day and go for an evening game drive into the crater in search of wildlife.

Journey time: 3 hours

Day 5: to Kilimanjaro airport for departure

After an early breakfast, you will set off for an early morning game drive to make a final round into the crater. You will look out for black rhinos, lions, elephants, zebra, and lots of birds. From there, you will head back to Kilimanjaro airport for departure.
