Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive at Kigali airport and transfer to Bwindi impenetrable forest national park

This will be the first of your safari where you will meet the safari driver guide in the morning. You will first go through the briefing on how the safari will unfold.

You will opt to take a tour around Kigali to visit the genocide memorial center and Kaplacki craft markets or immediately transfer to southwestern Uganda-Ruhija south of Bwindi impenetrable forest National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site and home to the endangered mountain gorillas.

You will arrive at your lodge in the evening, check in, have dinner, and take a rest.

Day 2: Bwindi Gorilla Tracking and Village Walk

You will wake up for breakfast. Your guide will make sure you are at the gorilla tracking center by 07:30 am in the morning. The park ranger will brief you and take you into the forest looking for gorillas. Trekking can take 3 or more than 5 hours but you will be able to enjoy 1 hour with gorillas in their natural habitats.

During the interaction with the gorillas, you observe how they go about their daily business which is something to wonder about since it is more or less similar to mankind. You will also take pictures and videos of these gentle and friendly creatures. At an hour mark, you will leave the forest to meet your safari guide and return to the lodge for lunch and a short rest.

A village walk will do you good if you still have some energy left. during the village walk, you will visit local markets, orphanages, hospitals, schools, and other social centres. Be sure to carry some gifts to give to the little children as it is one way of giving back to these unprivileged people yet they live harmoniously with the gorillas.

In the evening, you will get back to your lodge for dinner and a night’s rest.

Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast, You will depart Bwindi for Queen Elizabeth National Park (about 3 hours drive).  En route, you will have lunch in Kihihi town, an urban area between Bwindi and Queen Elizabeth.

Then you will access Queen Elizabeth National Park through the northern gate where you will have a stopover in the Ishasha sector to spot tree-climbing lions. This is such a unique phenomenon to sight in the wild as lions are terrestrial animals but at Ishasha they often climb the fig trees to take a rest after a long hut.

After looking and taking pictures of the lions, you will proceed to your lodge in or outside the park.

Day 4: Morning Game drive and Afternoon Boat Cruise Queen Elizabeth National Park

Early in the morning, after a cup of tea and snacks, your guide will take you to Kasenyi game tracks. You will have chances to spot wildlife such as lions, African elephants, leopards, buffaloes, and several species of antelopes like Uganda kob, and eland.

After the wildlife viewing experience, you will return to your lodge for lunch and then drive to Mweya dock to start your boat ride through the Kazinga Channel. The channel is a 32km waterway that connects two lakes of Edward and George.

It harbors lots of aquatic species including hippos, crocodiles, and lots of bird types, and while on a launch trip, you have a chance to see some of the aforementioned animals.

The boat ride takes about 2-3 hours and at the end of it, you will return to your lodge for dinner and a night’s stay.

Day 5: Travel to Kampala to End Your Trip

After a sumptuous breakfast, you will embark on a 7 hours journey to Kampala. On the way, you will make a stop in Mbarara one of Uganda’s 10 cities. Lunch will be served at Igongo Cultural Museum and then get back to your journey.  On your way to Kampala, you will make another stop at the Equator Monument for photos.

You will reach Kampala in the evening and transfer to your preferred place/ lodge or access Entebbe International Airport for your departure.
