4 Days Rwanda Gorillas Trekking & Mount Karisimbi Hike
This 4-day Rwanda hiking safari itinerary
showcases the natural beauty and wildlife of Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda’s top tourist destination.
The park is home to mountain gorillas; golden monkeys a variety of tropical birds and includes 3 Virunga volcanic mountains namely Mount. Karisimbi, Mount. Bisoke and Mount. Muhabura.
This trip will satisfy your primate and nature desires. You will track gorillas, hike Karisimbi, and spend overnight on the summit of this tallest volcano in Virunga.

Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to Volcanoes National Park
you will transfer from Kigali to Volcanoes National Park about 2 hours drive. Relax at the lodge for lunch, dinner, and overnight. Da Vinci lodge/ Muhabua hotel
Day 2: Gorilla tracking and Cultural walk
Early Morning at 07:15 am after breakfast, you will prepare your hiking gear like a packed lunch, camera, insect repellant, hat, and a rain jacket.
You will then head to the Kinigi visitor center and gather with other tourists going gorilla trekking for a briefing.
Thereafter, guides will lead to the forest looking for gorillas. After they are found, you will be allowed to take photos and observe how they feed for 1 hour.
The experience cannot thoroughly be explained by word but it is such an exhilarating moment to meet the gorillas in the wild. They are so welcoming, friendly, and intelligent in the way they conduct their business.
After gorilla trekking, you will be led back to your lodge for lunch. Later in the afternoon, you will visit Iby’iwacu cultural village.
The indigenous Rwandan people who live in this small village are dedicated to agriculture but decided to start up their arts and culture program to improve their livelihoods and also help in gorilla conservation.
Local families including BaTwa will share with you their traditional ways of living, beliefs, food harvesting and preparation. Return for dinner and overnight. Da Vinci lodge/ Muhabua hotel
Day 3: Hiking Mt. Karisimbi volcano (4507) meters above sea level
he hiking will start early morning with briefing and preparation of your backpacks, camping gear, and drinking water among others. You will be advised to hire a porter to help you carry your bags, however, it is not mandatory. Your team includes other hikers, 2 guides, and armed rangers and porters.
Hiking is done at a slow pace and will take 6-8 hours to reach the camping site at the summit where you will enjoy views of Virunga volcanoes and overnight camping.
Day 4: Descend back and transfer back to Kigali
You will enjoy sunrise and descend back to the base. Your guide will welcome you back and transfer to Kigali
