4 Days Double Gorilla Trekking Uganda

4 Days double gorilla safari in Bwindi rainforest is located 9-10 hours drive southwest of Kampala has the highest mountain gorilla population in the world. With 400 gorillas, the park offers the best gorilla tracking and this trip enables you to track gorillas twice at one of the gorilla centers in Bwindi namely Rushaga, Ruhija, Buhoma (headquarters) and Nkuringo.
Bwindi is also home to 10 primates and over 350 species including 23 Albertine rift endemics which you will most likely spot in the forest. During your 2 nights stay in the park, you will have a BaTwa and Bakiga cultural dance show at your lodge and the 3rd day you will spend 1 night on Lake Bunyonyi where you can do a boat cruise and enjoy breathtaking scenery. All accommodations have en suit private bathroom, some have queen/king size beds, free Wi-Fi.

    Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to Bwindi impenetrable forest national park
    Early morning, your guide will meet and pick you up from Kampala embark on the trip to Bwindi impenetrable forest national park (drive time approximately 9-10 hours). En route, you will stop for photos at the equator monument, a landmark where the earth is divided into southern and northern hemispheres. Proceed to Mbarara Igongo cultural museum settle for lunch and after enjoy a tour of the museum to learn about Ankole culture. You will leave Mbarara drive to southwestern Uganda, getting breathtaking views of kigezi highlands one of the beautiful landscapes in Uganda. You will arrive at your lodge evening for dinner and overnight. Rushaga gorilla camp/ gorilla Mist Camp (mid-range)/ Ichumbi lodge (luxury) broadbill forest camp (budget).

    Day 2: 1st gorilla tracking and BaTwa cultural dance
    Breakfast will be served early at around 06:45am. Don’t forget to take packed lunch/ drinking water and set out to the gorilla center where you will be briefed about the gorillas you shall track. You enter the forest and the search for gorillas may likely take longer 3-8 hours, but you will be excited to spend 1 hour with a gorilla family observing how they feed, groom and play. As you return back, you can possibly spot birds and primates. Upon arrival, you will be awarded a gorilla tracking certificate and proceed for lunch at your lodge. In the evening, BaTwa pygmies will be invited to entertain you with their dances, storytelling after you have dinner and overnight.

    Day 3: 2nd gorilla tracking and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
    After breakfast, you arrive at the gorilla center for briefing and later embark on your second gorilla tracking adventure. This time you’re guaranteed many photo opportunities with the mountain gorillas.
    Return from the forest and have lunch at your lodge. After lunch you transfer to Lake Bunyonyi, a beautiful lake made up of 19 islands. Arrive and check in your room with a view of the lake. You will go for evening sunset boat cruise exploring some of the 29 islands including the punishment island. You will return for dinner and overnight.

    Day 4: Transfer back to Kampala
    Breakfast will be served on the veranda of your room. You may go for traditional canoeing experience. After that, you travel back to Kampala. After Kabale town en route you will stop at great lakes museum for coffee/ snacks. Your trip will end upon arrival in Kampala or Entebbe airport.
